Shigure, one of ten Shiratsuyu-class destroyers built for the Imperial Japanese Navy, had a distinguished service record when she was sunk by an American submarine in January 1945. During the Pacific War, she earned a reputation for being "lucky" or "unsinkable", emerging from several battles with no damage and twice surviving as the sole ship of a Japanese force.

  • Superior Stealth: Shigure boasts exceptional concealment, making her one of the hardest destroyers to detect when properly built.
  • Heavy Torpedo Punch: Equipped with two quadruple launchers and a Torpedo Reload Booster, she can launch devastating waves of torpedoes in a short window.
  • Exhaust Smoke Generator: Unlike standard smoke, this allows her to remain hidden even while moving at full speed.
  • Unique Armor Saturation: She features a special midsection armor mechanic (similar to French destroyers) that reduces incoming damage after a certain threshold is reached.
  • Low Survivability: A small HP pool means she cannot afford to trade hits in prolonged gunfights.

Shigure: Battle Tips

  • Focus on Isolation: Use your stealth to hunt down isolated battleships and heavy cruisers. Avoid the "cap-contesting" brawl unless you have clear support.
  • Master the Disengage: Save your Exhaust Smoke Generator and Engine Boost for when you are spotted or overextended; they are your best tools for a clean getaway.
  • Mind the Radar: Your concealment is your primary defense. Always check the enemy roster for ships with Surveillance Radar before committing to a close-range flank.
  • Torpedo Discipline: Don't just fire on reload. Use your stealth to get into a flanking position where enemies are less likely to expect a spread, then use the Reload Booster for a "wall of skill."
  • Pick Your Battles: While your 127mm guns have decent alpha damage, only use them to finish off low-HP targets or when you are safely inside your smoke.
