Maine: American Super Battleship 1950
In this hypothetical development of the Montana-class battleships, the number of 406 mm guns could be increased to sixteen by replacing the three-gun turrets with four-gun ones. While four-gun turrets were initially proposed for battleships of the North Carolina class, they were equipped with 356 mm guns. If the goal were to enhance the firepower of the Montana-class battleships without utilizing a larger caliber, opting for four-gun turrets would be the most logical choice.

Key Features
- Maine is armed with sixteen (16) 406mm main battery guns.
- Compared to Montana, Maine's guns have a higher salvo weight but a longer reload time and lower accuracy.
- She also has decent armor and good AA defenses, but a vulnerable citadel.
- The ship has combat instructions which, once activated, increase the damage of her AA defenses and reduce the damage taken from fire and flooding.
- Maine's main set of consumables are similar to Montana, but she has no Fighter or Spotting Aircraft consumables.

It's already almost 12.10! Did they really fail with the ship concept so hard, that they can't release it even for 12.9 Auction???
ReplyDeleteWell when I looked it up it looks like it's going to be a Supership. Also the Wisconsin is supposed to be in testing. I imagine they will probably be out in June or July. The Wisconsin shows as being a Doubloon ship for 34,650 which is a lot for an upgraded Iowa Class.
DeleteAlmost 12.11. It looks like that they can't ballance it, as with combat instructions it appears to be OP, while without them - absulute trash xD
ReplyDeleteClanmate met it on Patrie in Randoms. Maine was almost destruck once shown broadside to Patrie at around 17km and was finished by next salvoe from allied Montana. Seems to be a weak ship both in terms of armor due to huge citadel and also absolute trash guns (even Devastation has more AP pen at all ranges accourding to datamine)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100 percent
Delete13.0 Auction maybe? When does the Auction usually happen?
ReplyDeleteOk, it's now clear that they no longer can produce new ship models, at least temporarily. So they've put this ship "on hold" to keep it that people don't notice the lack of new ship models in the game with all those upcoming ships (as all new tech tree ships and premiums except Wiesbaden are reused old models). So they'll release it in a much later date probably when they'll start to be able to produce new ship models again. Untill then they're just garthering the ship's statistics, without applying any ballance changes to it, and will apply the changes prior to the ship's release on Auction. This is of course clear that the Maine Auction won't happen in at least next 3 patches as they need time to produce and announce new ship models prior to that Auction.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't the case. The model for Maine already exists. The ship has been seen in game and everything. One of two things is happening. Either it's somehow too strong/weak so it's in development hell, which seems unlikely since they've not buffed or nerfed it in ages. Or, and this is my theory, there is another line of American ships being developed and they want it to release at the same time as them during July 4th.
DeleteMy theory is that they've realised that this ship is too weak in hands of average players, while almost unkillable in hands of PRO players.
DeleteSo they might remodeling it's armor scheme at least for some degree. Most likely lowering it's citadel, which was already the case with Tier VIII American premium Battleship Alabama (concept of Maine's stats also looks pretty much inspired by pre-buff Alabama, while the ship model is inspired by one of Montana 1938 preliminary design with 3 quad turrets, South Dakota Class superstructure (Alabama is also South Dakota class) and internal armor belt) as well as tech tree American Battleships of Montana line.
After the armor scheme change they might continue to test this ship, and if necessary - nerf the combat instructions.
God this comments section is dented. "It almost got dev struck flat broadside therefore weak". No you idiots. A ship showing flat broadside should take damage. Shells shouldn't just overpen or disappear into nothingness or just shatter. That's what the game should be like and used to be like.
ReplyDeleteAll that being said, where the hell is this thing? It's the one supership that's actually interesting to me since it's the only one without something that makes it either toxic af to fight against or not fun to play. Patrie's armor sucks, Ushakov's dog shit except for its F key which sucks to deal with, Satsuma is invulnerable to damage and has stupid guns, Devastation's HE is toxic. All the cruisers are dented in their own ways and the destroyers suck to fight. Maine just seems to go all in on being tanky without a stupid gimmick that griefs other players.
No, dented idiots are those who want to play ships like tanks. The ship that stays in range (especially 17km) MUST be invulnerable even when broadside, this thing is called immunity zone in real life, if youguys from wot don't know. If you're pissed on how things work in real life - look at other good arcadish naval games, where ships are more vulnerable from nose and rear (and that's also historical), but not vulnerable from broadside.
DeleteIf you don't like the fact that ships like Satsuma or Patrie exist - go play world of plastiline tanks and enjoy your "nose tanking" there, but don't put your trash mechanics in naval games.
Also your "ideal" Maine straight sucks lollipops against other Tier XI ships.
Will any Auction happen in 13.1??? I really hope for Maine release
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't mentioned in the patch notes, but that doesn't mean it might not happen, I hope so :)
DeleteSince clan battles with one supership per team start in 13.1, there might be a 13.1 Maine Auction... or might not LOL
ReplyDeleteMaybe > Maybe not. lets hope so.
DeleteSo... Its been 8 months since they announced this ship and still no word by wg when it will be released. Not even for AH.
ReplyDeleteIt was supposed to come by end of 2023 as I heard but it got delayed for some reason(s).
It's been a long wait :(
DeleteIt was clearly said in "Waterline: Fall 2023" that Piemonte and Maine will be both released in Autumn, but WG has broken their own promises again and decided to "hold" the ship's release untill some crappy event happen, so they can monetize more by releasing it in that time. The event itself will at best be in late April (start of Spanish-American War Anniversary), or at worst - 4th July, which will take place one freaking year since the ship's announcement.
DeleteI have that Waterline on the blog, and you are right a captured an image, but if it is not balanced then it would be hard to release. https://i.imgur.com/TkZGy7d.png
DeleteBecause I don't know, if I *will* play the game 2 months later. Also not 200 millions, this supership will cost much more: from 275 millions to 300 millions as the most expensive one Ushakov was around 300 millions.
ReplyDeleteDo you have billions of credits?
DeleteI don't, but I'll get this ship, even if forced to sell the entire port xD
DeleteWhy only a sigma of 1.7? USN fire control was among the best of the WW2 combatants. Nerf the secondaries and keep the main reload but give us a reliable long-range shooter. An American Yamato in effect.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more David, I remember when Montana and Missouri were lethal,
DeleteSo is Maine gonna be released soon for Auction?
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard anything yet.
DeleteDid they share any info about Maine's release date? I didn't watch the stream..
ReplyDeleteNot that I know of, I watched about 45 mins, I'm in the UK so it was nearly midnight.
DeleteIf there are no info even on live gameplay by wg, then im afraid its still far from release...
DeleteThey said on Discord that they still don't have date for Maine. Its still in testing hell...
ReplyDeleteDont know about auction. We will have to wait and see. Maybe some other stuff will be for bid.
DeleteWhat im sure is that Maine won't be on next update auction. Which is strange because from what I saw on stream, ship looks very finished and ready.
I guess we will have to wait and see.
Delete13.2 Auction 100% as they often place removed premium ship along with Supership - in this case with Maine. The fact that they've shown it's gameplay on a Stream also means that the ship will be released soon ;)
ReplyDeleteFrom what i've been told by weegee staff, they still dont know when it could be released because its still in testing phase.
DeleteBUT, I do hope you are right.
Do you have any source for your ''100%'' statement or was it just a feeling?
Auction will happen in 13.2 update and already in PTS. And yes, Community Managers don't "know" the release date of Maine because it's NDA and in the current update the ship is still the test ship. NDA is ending usually 1 to 3 days after Auction announcement.
DeleteThe fact that the ship gameplay was shown on stream called "USS Maine gameplay preview" and the fact that Boggzy said on Stream, in first Maine battle with gold camo, something like that that "I can't express my personal opinion regarding this ship, because it's the test ship, and also
can't share info about it's release date, but the fact that we're streaming it definetely says something." Mean that the ship release is in the closest Auction (as Superships are released as Auction early access ships, before entering tech tree lines), since WG never directly says when the ship release is, but sometimes shares quotes (in this case Boggzy's quote on Stream) which give you an idea when the release might be.
Btw, early access ships are also "in testing phase", but different - open one
DeleteI hope you are right.
DeleteAnd I didn't saw any info about Auction being in 13.2.
I have feeling that 1 month from now they will announce and Wisconsin resource and release details.
Check PTS 13.2 Armory. Auction is there with only Haida featured, which means that Auction will take place in 13.2 update. But PTS Auction never features Superships, so with 99% probability the main Auction lot will be Maine, while Haida will be in the second lot, which was happening many times in other superships Auctions.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Wisconsin, it looks either like coal ship, either dockyard one, since it doesn't look OP judging by it's characteristics.
I think Wisco could be Coal ship, because he have reload booster button similar to Jean Bart who was also Coal ship few years ago.
DeleteWiscounsin is a dockyard ship. Confirmed in dev blog
DeleteAny picture, what Maine's alternative camouflage scheme looks like?
ReplyDeleteI will look and add it if there is one.
Deleteadded 2nd camo
DeleteThank you very much!)
Deletethis is only 1 supership with f key that increases AA damage, anyone is suprised it took so long? special treatment class
ReplyDeleteTrue "special treatment" classes are DDs and subs. First got their citadel removed and then full BB AP pen damage reduced to 1/6. Second got homing torps and increased speed+manevrability.
DeleteBBs, CVs and even CAs/CLs have only been nerfed for all these 9 years.
The ship appeared in Tech Tree as "Early Access Ship", which means that it'll be released in this update in Auction.
ReplyDeleteTime to change "Estimated Ship Release" from "Unknown" to "13.2"
ReplyDelete
