Horror From the Abyss
The main feature of Update 15.10 is a new Operation-based PvE event. Its narrative pits a team of players, operating as part of a secret organization, against a shadowy cult as they investigate strange phenomena in the Bermuda Triangle.
Event Structure and Progression
The event runs across two Updates. Four consecutive operations unlock weekly throughout Update 15.10, while all four operations will be in a random rotation with some twists to their mechanics during the first two weeks of Update 15.11.
A bit more about these operations:
- Vanished Expedition: scout the enigmatic territory, clear enemies, capture key areas, and evacuate.
- Madness Crusade: hunt down the cult's transport ships fleeing from the center of the Grim Islands, along with their escorts.
- Origin of Terror: escort a scientific expedition in, defend a key area while clues are gathered, then escort your transports safely back out.
- Harbingers of Doom: hold the center of the Grim Islands map against approaching cultist airships eager to finish the ritual.
Each operation puts a team of 7 players against multiple bots. There will be islands that change height from scenario to scenario, bringing some changes between the operations, and local weather effects on some of them that can damage ships venturing inside area of effect.
To progress through the event's reward track, you must gather Stars, which can be earned by completing each Operation's main and secondary tasks. Rewards include new themed content such as several permanent camouflages with pulsing runes, the Shadow Blades enemy destruction effect, and other items, valuable resources, a temporary currency called Relics (see below how to spend it), as well as event-specific module levels and slots for Commander talents. Extra levels each week will award more Relics.
Event Mechanics
Unusual happenings require unusual measures! The event brings back some armament and equipment from previous events and adds new pieces on top.
Returning are missiles, which can now be launched in packs and have a variant that deals splash damage to all ships in an area of effect—the farther a target from the epicenter, the lower the damage. You will additionally have access to high-velocity shells which travel in a straight line and hit instantly. They will also have a variant with a splash damage. On top of that, welcome back the shield mechanic—this time with a full physical model as shields now collide with incoming shots.
Some new additions are worth shouting out:
- Overheating: each shot raises the turret's temperature. Heating a turret to a certain threshold temporarily improves its parameters. But push it further and the turret cannot fire at all until it cools down. Heat status will be represented above the crosshair.
- Event consumables: a set that includes refined returning consumables such as Shield Regeneration and Flotilla Repair, alongside five brand-new ones.
- To give you an example, one of the newcomers is the Omniscient Surveillance Radar, which works as a normal Surveillance Radar with an additional twist: all enemy ships affected by the Radar take some damage over time. We will reveal all the new event consumables later.
Expeditioner
The event is played on a single rental ship, Expeditioner, or rather, 3,125 ships in one. A dedicated, gloomy event Port gives you an extensive customization system built around five modules: main battery, auxiliary armament, hull, consumable sets, and shields.
Each module has five branches, unlockable with Relics, each offering a completely different weapon layout, parameters, and playstyle. Swapping branches also changes the ship's appearance. On top of that, each module can be leveled up two times to improve parameters across all its branches. And finally, each module can then equip up to two upgrades from a wider pool available for Relics to finetune the ship even further to your liking.
And as you progress through the reward track, you'll unlock several event Commander talents that function similarly to those of Unique Commanders.
All together, this can create combinations ranging from your classic run of the mill sturdy work-horses to builds straight out of your dreams (or nightmares). Aircraft, missiles, high-velocity shells, lots of HP, no maneuverability, and detectable across the map? Sure, why not!
Additional Themed Content
The event also brings the following themed content to the game:
- Nationless Commanders Pedro Lucero, the Narrator, and Nemesis, each with individual voiceovers
- Seekers of Mu and Cultists flags
- Horror From the Abyss achievement
European Cruisers in Early Access
The new European heavy cruiser line, previously revealed in the Development blog, arrives in Early Access with Update 15.10.
- Tier IV, Dragon
- Tier V, Kralj Petar I

VI Tre Kronor
VII Hel
VIII Kriti
IX Tirfing
X Vanadis
These cruisers (one might be tempted to call them "heavy destroyers") have a focus on stealthy torpedo gameplay, using their great speed and low detectability to get to advantageous positions. Their main guns can dish out a good damage per minute but at a modest range. The ships are equipped with time-based Emergency Engine Power but lack conventional cruiser consumables.
Three low-tier ships will be available via the Event Pass: you'll be able to get two of them for free with the other one waiting in the paid second progression line. The rest can be obtained for Doubloons. Alongside the ships, three permanent camouflages inspired by mythology arrive with the Early Access:
- Eternal Chase for

VIII Kriti: a nod to Helios and Selene, siblings from Greek myth whose sun and moon chariots trace an endless cycle across the sky. - Sköll for

IX Tirfing: named for the Norse wolf that, per Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda, chases the sun goddess Sól across the heavens. - Hati for

X Vanadis: Sköll's counterpart, the wolf that pursues Máni, the Moon.
In-battle Information Screen
As promised in the Roadmap video and shaped by player feedback, we're overhauling the informational screens for the pre-battle sequence and in-battle. The goal is to put all the match data in one place, so you easily check see what matters.
The loading screen before a battle lets you inspect the minimap, team compositions, and the mission goal and its conditions. For Operations, mission briefings and tasks are shown there too, right away, without switching back and forth between screens.
A second screen provides more detail, including revised guidance on game mechanics and quick commands.
The in-battle screen (TAB) works in a similar way, minus the minimap. In Operations, it also displays main and secondary tasks along with their current status.
Salvage for Victory: Z-57
Update 15.10 brings a new iteration of the Salvage for Victory event. Its reward is Early Access to German superdestroyer Z-57, giving you a chance to obtain her without climbing the whole tech tree.
You will be able to use Credits, Elite Commander XP, and Free XP, as well as Rare economic bonuses to move toward the ship in the event. Additionally, you will be able to earn Salvage Tokens by completing a combat mission chain available in a dedicated article, and use these tokens for up to 25% of the progress.
Rewards for completion:
- German superdestroyer Z-57 in Early Access
- Z-57 commemorative flag
Z-57 will join the Tech Tree with Update 16.0 for everyone's research.

Steam Game Recording
For players using Steam's Game Recording feature, spectacular moments from a battle are now marked on the recording timeline. Achievements such as Double Strike or Devastating Strike will be flagged, as will feats like lucky survival, where you take damage worth over 85% of your ship's HP in a short time and live through it, along with other standout plays.
That makes it easier to find highlight-worthy moments when you want to clip something for social media or send it to a friend. The video file with the clip will be saved by default in the Steam folder on your PC, should you wish to share it further.
Asymmetric Battles
Asymmetric Battles are a community favorite, and we have certainly heard you. Based on your feedback, we are happy to share that they'll continue to be available at least until the release of Update 16.3. Battle on against the odds!
Brawls
Update 15.10 features three Brawls. All of them will allow ships of various Tiers into the same match, but with a twist. While Tier X ships will sail as they are, every tier below will have gradually increasing buffs to their parameters to keep things fair.
Brawl 1
- Format: 3 vs. 3 destroyers, battleships, and cruisers
- Ship Tiers: VII–X
Brawl 2
- Format: 4 vs. 4 destroyers, battleships, and cruisers
- Ship Tiers: VI–X
Brawl 3
