Marcílio Dias - Tier VII Pan-American (Brazilian) Destroyer 1943

One of three destroyers based on the United States' Mahan class and built for the Brazilian Navy in the late 1930s. These were the first ocean-class destroyers to be built in Brazil. Marcílio Dias was named after a Brazilian Navy sailor who died during the Battle of Riachuelo against the Paraguayan Navy. The ship entered service in 1943 and took part in Allied operations near Brazil, operating against Axis blockade runners and U-boats. Later, she escorted the convoys carrying the Brazilian Expeditionary Force to Italy. Marcílio Dias was decommissioned in 1966.
