Michelangelo - Italian Tier IX Premium Cruiser 1934
The Washington Naval Conference gave Italy the opportunity to build battleships from 1927. Several projects with a displacement of 18,000 to 35,000 tons were under development simultaneously; some of the projects relied on foreign designs—Hood, Nelson, and Dunkerque—but some were unique. The design proposed by Admiral de Feo featured a ship with eight 320 mm guns in quadruple-gun turrets placed close to the midship frames while the secondary battery mounts were moved toward the ship's fore and aft ends.

RN Michelangelo Flag
Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475–1564), a native of the Florentine Republic, distinguished himself as a chief military engineer during the city's defense against the forces of Emperor Charles V in 1529 and 1530. During the period spanning from the 12th to the 16th century, the coat of arms of the Florentine Republic depicted a stylized image of an iris in a droplet-shaped shield, and the flag was a red cloth with a white cross.
Key Features
Michelangelo is armed with eight 320 mm main battery guns which have limited firing angles. The ship also has numerous secondary guns armed with SAP shells which can deal good damage, thus compensating for Michelangelo's relatively weak main battery guns. Michelangelo is also armed with torpedoes that have wide launching angles, deal high damage, and have high speed, but there are few torpedoes per salvo.
The ship has a large HP pool, good concealment values, and Repair Party, but is not distinguished by good armor and citadel protection.
Michelangelo can gain an extra advantage over the enemy in battle thanks to the combination of the Exhaust Smoke Generator and Hydroacoustic Search with a long range in separate slots. However, Michelangelo lacks the Engine Boost consumable, which makes the ship slow compared to other Italian cruisers.
