USS Indiana: Tier IX Premium Battleship 1942

USS Indiana: Tier IX Premium Battleship

USS Indiana: Tier IX Premium Battleship 1942

The second ship in a series of four South Dakota-class battleships. She was designed to comply with treaty restrictions, combining substantial firepower and protection with moderate speed and a tightly packed layout. She arrived in the Pacific Theater in late 1942 and went on to participate in most of the U.S. Navy's major operations, including the Solomon Islands campaign, the battles of the Marshalls and Marianas, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. In July 1945, Indiana became the first battleship to shell the Japanese home islands. She was placed in reserve shortly after the war and scrapped in the early 1960s.

Indiana Ship Ensign

USS Indiana Commemorative Flag
The flag includes 19 stars: an outer circle of 13 stars for the original states, an inner semicircle of 5 stars for the next five states admitted to the Union, and a larger star above the torch representing Indiana as the 19th state (Not a WG in-game flag).

Key Features

In battle, Indiana plays the role of a front-line pusher and brawler, taking advantage of her good agility—made possible by her improved acceleration—and impressive torpedo protection system to wade into battle. She is the first US battleship to feature the Hydroacoustic Search consumable, making aggressive pushes much safer and more informed. That said, Indiana has a small HP pool for her tier and mediocre speed. That can be negated, though, by the improved Damage Control Party and a relatively strong Repair Party with a comfortable cooldown. Also compared to her sisters, Indiana has an improved main battery reload time.

Gaming Tips

While her shell ballistics are not that great, with an average accuracy, when combined with her Spotting Aircraft, Indiana can take advantage of elevation to "lob" shells over islands and surprise enemies who think they’re safely in cover.

    1. There is less incentive to spend real money on coal ships since coal is easily obtainable. Sadly no money = WG is not interested
