Tōgasa - Tier X Japanese Premium Battleship
A battlecruiser armed with 310 mm and 100 mm gun mounts originally intended for the B-65 super cruiser design. The ship, designed in the late 1910s, could have been built and modernized two decades later using the latest artillery systems of the time.

Key Features and Battle Tips
Key Features
- High Salvo Volume & Fast Reload: Armed with fifteen 310mm main battery guns in a massive 5x3 configuration, Tōgasa unleashes a relentless barrage of heavy cruiser/battleship-grade shells. Her fast base reload speed allows her to apply constant main-battery pressure on enemy surface ships.
- Modified Shells Alternative Firing Mode: Equips a specialized alternative firing mode that dramatically alters her gun characteristics. Activating Modified Shells trades away her rapid rate of fire in exchange for significantly enhanced Armor-Piercing (AP) penetration values and raw alpha damage, enabling her smaller 310mm barrels to punch straight into heavy battleship citadels.
- Long-Range High-Alpha Torpedoes: Features high-damage, long-range torpedoes that deliver immense defensive and zone-denial threat, particularly while kiting or shutting down narrow chokepoints.
- Superior Concealment: Boasts impressive concealment parameters for a Tier X capital ship, allowing her to disengage from unfavorable trades, set up lethal broadside ambushes, or reposition around the map undetected.
- Fragile Protection & Low Survivability Pool: Possesses cruiser-grade extremity plating, a vulnerable structural layout, and a low maximum hit-point pool, making focused fire and heavy-caliber AP broadsides extremely dangerous to her survival.
Battle Tips
Early-Battle Strategy: The Fire-Support Role
During the opening stages of a match, Tōgasa excels as a second-line support unit. Because her lightweight armor scheme and lower hit-point pool make open pushes hazardous, avoid leading the push into contested cap zones. Instead, leverage her generous concealment to slip into advantageous mid-range positions, or remain anchored behind friendly line-of-battle ships. From these positions, her 15-gun volley—carrying characteristics reminiscent of Yoshino's powerful 310mm artillery—can shell light targets, set persistent fires with high-volume HE, and exhaust enemy Damage Control Parties.
Main Battery Usage & Firepower Management
While her baseline salvo volume easily compensates for her modest shell dispersion, her default AP penetration will occasionally struggle against heavily armored battleships at extreme distances. Against cruiser targets, however, her standard AP and HE rounds are devastatingly effective. Use her regular firing mode to sustain steady damage per minute (DPM) and force enemy repairs on key targets.
Mastering the "Modified Shells" Alternative Firing Mode
The key to unlocking Tōgasa's full potential lies in knowing precisely when to toggle her alternative firing mode:
- The Executioner's Salvo: Switch to Modified Shells when you catch an enemy capital ship broadside or when an unsuspecting cruiser attempts to turn in front of you. The boosted alpha damage and enhanced penetration give her 310mm guns the hitting power of high-caliber dreadnought artillery.
- Flanking Ambushes: Combine her stealthy concealment radius with Modified Shells to slip onto a broadside flank. You can hold your fire until you reach an optimal angle, then drop a devastating burst of high-penetration AP before enemy targets can react.
Torpedo Tactics & Defensive Kiting
Tōgasa's long-range torpedoes are one of her best tools for controlling enemy movement. Because her forward launch angles require turning broadside—exposing her vulnerable Citadel—avoid launching torpedoes while charging directly into enemy fire. Instead, launch them defensively while kiting away from an advancing flank, or drop them pre-emptively into high-traffic smoke screens and naval choke points.
Survivability & Positioning Considerations
Because Tōgasa carries cruiser-level bow and stern armor, she cannot rely on bow-tanking high-caliber battleship shells. To stay alive throughout the match:
- Always keep an exit route planned before opening fire.
- Use active throttle management and tight rudder movements to dodge incoming long-range salvos rather than trying to absorb them.
- Avoid remaining isolated at close range against multiple enemy threats where her low HP pool can be quickly depleted.
