Closed Test 15.0 - Unique Upgrade Changes

WG are applying changes to Unique Upgrades for Kremlin, Cristoforo Colombo, Hindenburg, République, Gouden Leeuw, Petropavlovsk, Daring, Harugumo, Grozovoi, Z-52, Elbing, and Yueyang, based on an analysis of both their combat statistics and player feedback.

Automated Main Battery Loading Mechanism (X Kremlin)

  • Added a new effect: +1 charge to all ship consumables

This upgrade aims to encourage a higher degree of close-range gameplay, even at a higher risk. While providing an ample increase in combat effectiveness of the ship as is, in many cases, the reduction of main battery range was found to be too great a penalty. To mitigate this, the upgrade will now also enhance the ship's survivability by expanding its consumable capacity.

Improved Rangefinders (X C. Colombo)

  • Added new effect: -2 charges of Exhaust Smoke Generator consumable

Due to demonstrating excessive effectiveness, an additional penalty was added. Being left with only a single charge of the Exhaust Smoke Generator, players will have to consider their options carefully, especially when engaging at closer ranges.

Main Battery Fire Control Station (X République)

  • Removed the penalty to the main battery firing range
  • Added a new effect: 15% increased time of fires and floods duration

The upgrade currently significantly changes the playstyle of République, forcing the ship into a very different environment, in which it struggles in most cases. And while the bonus that's provided in return is quite hefty, it proved to be insufficient. To address this, the core penalty of the upgrade will be changed. It will no longer restrict the area where the ship can operate, instead leaving it more vulnerable while being singled out as a target, while allowing République to utilize the bonuses at all ranges.

Upgraded Damage Control Equipment (X Hindenburg)

  • Removed the effect that accelerated the main battery repair
  • Added a new effect: 20% increased duration of Repair Party consumable
  • The bonus to fire extinguishing time increased: 40 to 50%
  • The bonus to flood extinguishing time reduced: 70 to 50%

The upgrade, which contributed to the ship's survivability, while being quite popular, proved somewhat inefficient. To address this, it was decided to replace the main battery repair bonus with a new one that more directly impacts the ship's ability to take damage and survive.

Ship-to-Shore Radio (X Gouden Leeuw)

  • Removed the effect that accelerated Airstrike reload
  • Added a new effect: 8% increase in Airstrike range
  • Added a new effect: 10% increase in Airstrike bomb damage

The upgrade was designed to shift the ship's focus from its main guns and hull to its Airstrike armament. The current combination of bonuses has proven to be too effective, leading to some unpleasant interactions with the ship. Therefore, the upgrade was changed to no longer affect the reload of Airstrikes, instead expanding their capabilities to allow more diverse targeting with greater effect. This will result in a more varied overall gameplay experience.

Ballistic Capped Armor-Piercing Shells (X Petropavlovsk)

  • Removed the penalty for the number of ship consumable charges
  • Added a new effect: 25% reduced duration of all ship consumables
  • The bonus to AP shell damage reduced: 10 to 7.5%

The point of this upgrade was to shift the focus of the ship from its utility and survivability to its main guns. While the concept works well, it was deemed too effective in fulfilling its role. As such, the implemented changes will preserve the playstyle provided by the upgrade, but will make the penalty more apparent, affecting every use of her consumables, instead of reducing their number.

Heavier Torpedo Warheads (X Daring)

  • The consumable is renamed to Enhanced Torpedo Loading Mechanism
  • Bonus to concealment increased: 5 to 10%
  • Removed the bonus to torpedo damage
  • Added a new effect: 12% increase in the main battery reload time
  • Added a new effect: 15% increase to torpedo speed

The goal of this upgrade is to strengthen the torpedo armament of the ship, expanding its gameplay capabilities. The previous version proved to be severely underperforming in both terms of popularity and effectiveness, and therefore, it will receive significant changes. While still pursuing the same goal, it will now have bonuses more suited to achieving the goal, without compromising on concealment, which is highly important for torpedo-focused ships.

Additional Smoke Generators (X Harugumo)

  • Added a new effect: 6% reduction of the main battery reload time

The change further enhances the current role of the upgrade, encouraging smoke-play without getting too close to enemy ships. While the current bonuses were sufficient for teamplay and supporting roles, the change aims to enhance the ship's capabilities in solo play and increase its effectiveness in smokes.

Main Gun Automatic Loader (X Grozovoi)

  • Removed the penalty to the torpedo tubes reload time
  • Added a new effect: 5% increase in the detectability

The upgrade continues to shift the ship's focus from a generalist style to a more artillery-focused gameplay. The current penalty proved insufficient to offset the value the ship gained from the upgrade properly; therefore, it was changed to a more impactful one, which is more fitting for artillery-focused destroyers.

Torpedo Fire Control System (X Z-52)

  • Removed the effect that reduced torpedo detectability
  • The bonus to torpedo speed increased: 5 to 12%
  • Added a new effect: +5% to the maximum dispersion of enemy shells fired at your ship

The upgrade continues to enhance the ship's armaments at the expense of its survivability. The changes are aimed at improving the upgrade in terms of efficiency and ease of gameplay universally in any situation.

Automated Gun and Fuel Systems (X Elbing)

  • Added a new effect: 8% reduction of the main battery range

While the upgrade continues to significantly improve the ship's performance in open water situations, complementing gun comfort and maneuverability, it has become too effective, making it difficult for other ships to engage her at longer ranges. To address this, we decided to add a noticeable penalty that would not compromise the core identity of the upgrade and make the choice in the slot more meaningful.

Improved Main Artillery (X Yueyang)

  • Added a new effect: 10% increase to the maximum HP

This unique upgrade prioritizes enhancing the ship's artillery capabilities at the expense of concealment. At the same time, the upgrade is efficient regardless of whether Smoke Generator or Surveillance Radar is chosen. To keep this spirit while addressing the overall low efficiency of the upgrade, a new, universal bonus was added to complement all types of gameplay available on the ship.
