During World War I, amid the dreadnought arms race, designers had free rein. Seven battleship designs were proposed, each maximizing capabilities and performance. The sole restriction was that the battleships needed to fit through the Panama Canal. The initial design was conservative relative to the others, featuring twelve large-calibre guns across four turrets, respectable speed, and robust armor.

In a forthcoming update, the BB Elite Ship Icon X Vermont model may receive a Unique Upgrade. For testing purposes, WG will use a ship named BB Special Ship Icon X Utah, which has settings identical to BB Elite Ship Icon X Vermont, and will also include the Unique Upgrade.
