European Destroyer VIII Orkan 1942

An M-class destroyer built for the Royal Navy, but transferred to the Polish Navy shortly after being commissioned. Despite similarities with Lightning-class ships, Orkan boasted stronger AA defences which were reinforced at the cost of a reduced number of torpedo tubes.

ORP Orkan Flag Destroyer Orkan was commissioned into the Polish Navy in November 1942. She took part in the protection of convoys in the Arctic and Atlantic, and was sunk in the spring of 1943.
