Datong - Tier VIII Pan-Asian Chinese Premium Destroyer 1949

A hypothetical destroyer design with experimental 100 mm dual-purpose guns as the main battery. Quadruple-gun 100 mm BL-127 mounts were under development in the U.S.S.R. in the late 1940s. One of the Project 30-bis destroyers under construction at that time could have served as a testbed for the prospective guns. Later, in the second half of the 1950s, the ship could have been transferred to the PRC.

  • Balanced Hull Specs: Maintains average stats for its tier when it comes to speed, health pool, and concealment, ensuring comfortable but not exceptional baseline performance.

Battle Tips

  • Force Damage Control First: Use the standard firing mode initially to take advantage of its high rate of fire and start multiple fires quickly, forcing the enemy to burn their Damage Control Party.
  • Switch for Consistent Damage: Once the enemy's permanent fires are secured, swap to the alternative firing mode to trade raw damage per minute for massively increased HE penetration and consistent direct damage.
  • Aim AP at Broadsides: Leverage the full AP damage per minute against broadside targets. Target broadside destroyers directly, or aim at the upper belt armor and under the superstructure of cruisers and battleships.
  • Consider IFHE: Taking the Inertia Fuse for HE Shells commander skill can make your damage more consistent across both modes, notably allowing you to clear the important 32mm penetration threshold in the alternative firing mode.
  • Manage Smoke Cautiously: Because the Smoke Generator has limited charges, a fast dispersion time, and a long reload, you must carefully choose whether to use it aggressively for farming damage or save it as a vital disengagement tool.
