Châteaurenault: Tier X French Premium Destroyer
Châteaurenault began life as the Capitani Romani class cruiser Attillio Regolo, which entered Italian Navy service in May 1942. In November 1942, she was torpedoed by the submarine HMS Unruffled, which forced her into dock for several months. Following the Italian armistice, she was interned in Spain. After the war, she was transferred along with her sister Scipione Africano to the Marine Nationale and renamed to Châteaurenault.

Key Features
Châteaurenault, rebuilt between 1951-1954, is an anti-aircraft escort destroyer. Her main battery consists of three twin 105mm mounts, similar to those on the X Z-42, with improved AP alpha damage and HE shell penetration. She is armed with 12 torpedoes in four triple launchers, featuring excellent forward-firing arcs due to their placement well forward. As a relatively large destroyer, she has a good HP pool for her tier and benefits from French destroyer saturation mechanics. She is equipped with a strong AA armament and access to the Defensive AA Fire consumable.
Battle Tips
Use her good top speed and improved Engine Boost consumable to quickly reposition and surprise enemies. Her agility is key to effectively using her torpedoes, which have a 9km range but suffer a damage drop-off past 6km; committing to closer attacks will yield full damage. The arrangement of her main battery, with two of the three twin mounts mounted aft, makes aggressive gun attacks difficult to execute. Without a Smoke Generator, rely on her survivability and AA defense to fend off Aircraft Carriers when needed. Overall, play her as an aggressive, large torpedo destroyer, using her speed and armament to press attacks, while falling back on her reasonable main battery when necessary.
