Buffs 'n' Nerfs to Commander Sansonetti and Test Ships Mainz, Gorizia, British Cruisers


Italian unique historical commander Luigi Sansonetti: *BUFF*

The "Scorched by Fury" talent is changed. It will be triggered upon obtaining the Confederate achievement rather than High Caliber, and will increase the reload speed from:  5% to 15%.

The trigger for the talent was changed because the High Calibre achievement was easier to get in Ranked Battles than in Random Battles (due to smaller size of teams in Ranked Battles). The Improved reload speed brings Sansonetti in balance with other unique commanders.

GORIZIA Tier VII Italian Cruiser: *BUFF*
* Reload time of Exhaust Smoke Generator is lowered from 240 (180) to 210 (140) s;
* Parameters of Hydroacoustic Search are changed:
** Action time increased from 100 to 120 s;
** Torpedo detection range increased from 3.5 to 4 km;
** Ship detection range increased from 5 to 6 km.

Changes to consumables will make Gorizia more interesting to play and will highlight her main difference to the researchable Italian cruisers - Hydroacoustic search, compensating the lack of torpedoes.

MAINZ Tier VIII German Cruiser: *BUFF*
* * Increased the armour thickness of main battery turrets:
** Frontal armour plate from 30 to 80 mm.
** Upper armour plate from 20 to 32 mm.
** Side armour plates from 20 to 35 mm.
The armour of this cruiser's turrets will become the same as that of NΓΌrnberg. This will noticeably improve the survivability of her main calibre turrets.

* Air resistance coefficient was decreased for armour piercing and high explosive shells from    0.3307 to 0.29;
* Krupp value for armour piercing shells was increased from 1852 to 2300.
The changes to Mainz's shells will increase their flight speed (making shooting manoeuvring targets easier), and will increase penetration of armour piercing shells.

BEDFORD Tier VIII British Cruiser: *NERF*

PUERTO RICO Tier X American Cruiser:
* Detectability range by sea reduced from 17.6 to 16.56 km.
* Detectability range by air reduced from 11.86 to 11.16 km.
* Detectability after firing main guns in smoke reduced from 14.27 to 13.15 km.

This change will help to increase the survivability of Puerto Rico in combat and will also bring the ship's visibility into line with her size.

siegfried TIER iX german CRUISER
  • Secondary battery firing range increased from 5 to 7.6 km.
  • Secondary armament reload time lowered from 4 to 3.6 s.
Siegfried has powerful guns that can deal good damage at long ranges due to accuracy and calibre, and the ship's armour layout helps in surviving return fire. The main battery characteristics make it difficult to effectively fight destroyers and lightly armoured targets at close range. The changes will allow Siegfried to deal damage at close distance while the main battery is reloading even without skills or upgrades. This will increase the ship's efficiency at close range, supplementing the Hydroacoustic search with 6 km detection range of ships and torpedoes.

  • Chance of HE shell causing a fire is lowered from 9% to 7%.
  • Main battery reload time increased from 3 to 3.5 s.
  • Main battery firing range lowered from 15.5 to 13.8 km.
  • HE shells damage increased from 1850 to 2100.
  • AP shells damage increased from 2450 to 2600.
  • Acceleration dynamics at the start of the movement reverted to the standard values.
Cruiser's firing range allowed her not to take upgrades and skills because, considering the ballistics, the range increase didn't give a considerable increase in efficiency and this allowed players to increase other parameters. Lowering the range will form a choice for commanders of Colbert.

Changes to shell parameters and to the reload time will lower the total damage output of the cruiser at the expense of fires. Damage per minute by shells remain roughly the same.

Good acceleration dynamics allowed Colbert to quickly disengage after being detected and made it too hard for opponents to strike the cruiser.

  • The citadel is raised and it will take some of the casemate space;

  • Restoration of the casemate (non-citadel) damage increased from 60% to 75%;
  • Duke of York number of charges increased from 2 to 3;
  • King George V, Duke of York and Monarch restore 0.6% of maximum amount of HP per second instead of 0.5%;
  • King George V, Monarch and Duke of York Repair Party Reload time lowered from 120 to 90 s;
  • Lion and Conqueror Repair Party Reload time lowered from 180 to 120 s.
Fighting from long range, British battleships are less demanding regarding their positioning due to a low-sitting citadel. Even a well-aimed broadside salvo rarely hits it. To increase the possibility of punishing angling mistakes, the citadel has been raised and will take up some of the casemate space. But with good manoeuvring, the overall survivability of British battleships will only increase due to the improved Repair Party.

Buffs 'n' Nerfs Chung Mu, Yueyang, Gearing, Jutland, Emerald World of Warships

Researchable Ships Buffs 'n' Nerfs

Pan Asian Destroyer Tier IX "Chung Mu"
  • Main battery guns reload time increased from 3.3 to 3.5 s;
  • Torpedo tubes reload time increased from 106 to 122 s.
Pan Asian Destroyer Tier X "Yueyang"
  • Torpedo tubes reload time lowered from 156 to 146 s.
After the changes to Yueyang in the update 0.7.11 this destroyer was balanced with classmates in terms of impacting the battle, but Chung Mu was superior to other tier IX destroyers in battle efficiency. The changes will balance these Pan-Asian ships with other destroyers considering the changes to the game after the 0.7.11 update.

USA Destroyer Tier X "Gearing"
  • Researchable torpedo tubes reload time lowered from 136 to 122 s.
In the 0.7.6 update the Mk16 mod. 1 torpedo tubes were added to the ship, the same as Fletcher has. They showed good efficiency on Gearing, and now we want to make researchable and stock torpedoes, offering different play styles, equal in terms of combat efficiency.

British Destroyer Tier IX "Jutland"
  • Main battery guns reload time increased from 3.5 to 4 s.
Jutland is very good in close combat. but her overall efficiency is too great. To make this ship more balanced.

British Cruiser Tier V "Emerald"
  • Armour of citadel deck is increased from 25 to 40 mm.
This change will protect the citadel deck from penetrations by attack aircraft rockets, 203 mm caliber HE shells and penetrations without ricochets with AP shells.

Tier X Heavy Cruiser Yoshino Changes:
New torpedoes added:
  • Reload time: 167 s;
  • Maximum damage: 20967;
  • Speed: 62 knots;
  • Range: 20 km;
  • Detectability range: 2.5 km.
There are plans for the cruiser to have two types of torpedoes, and at the coming iteration we're going to test a new variant: torpedoes with long range but high detectability.

Soviet Battleship Changes:
Tier X Soviet Battleship Kreml:
  • Armor of deck and stern armorbelt is increased from 50 to 60mm;
  • Penetration of AP shells is lowered;
  • Torpedo protection increased from 29% to 46%;
  • Removed the option of installing the Gun Fire Control System Modification 2;
  • HP of main caliber turrets increased from 20 000 to 40 000;

Tier IX Soviet Battleship Sovetsky Soyuz:
  • Armor of deck and armorbelt above the casemate is increased from 40mm to 60mm;
  • Penetration of AP shells is lowered;
  • Torpedo protection increased from 21% to 35%;
  • Removed an option of installing the Gun Fire Control System Modification 2;
  • HP of main caliber turrets increased from 20 000 to 40 000;

Tier VIII Soviet Battleship Vladivostok:
  • Penetration of AP shells is lowered;
New penetration values will increase the combat efficiency at close and medium distances, but lower at long ranges. Also it will reduce the number of over-penetrations.

These armor adjustments are made to help these ships feel more comfortable at close and medium ranges and allow them to better resist HE shells of cruisers with improved penetration. Torpedo protection is improved to allow soviet battleships stay on the first line of engagement longer, even if enemy destroyers are nearby.

These ships have their turrets damaged more often due to fighting on close ranges, thus the amount of HP is increased.

Because of unique dispersion ellipse, upgrade for firing range was significantly weaker than other options and was removed.

Tier X Premium Soviet Battleship Slava:
  • Deck armor and stern armorbelt thickness is reduced from 50 to 32mm;
  • Sigma is increased from 1.7 to 1.9;
  • Main guns firing range increased from 20.7 to 24.7;
  • "Repair party" consumable number of charges increased from 2(3) to 3(4);
  • Standard for battleships "Damage control party" consumable is given.
  • Accuracy parameters changed.
Considering Slava is more of a standard battleship, her consumables, accuracy and firing range are set closer to those of her classmates. At the same time, armor was lowered, since it would grant the ship excessive protection.


New accuracy settings will be the Slava's feature: on close ranges it will be worse than of other battleships, but will be better than classmates' on longer ranges.

GEORGIA
Tier IX American Battleship Georgia Changes:
  • Accuracy of the main caliber guns is increased;
  • Secondary guns firing range is increased from 6 to 7.5 km;
  • Secondary guns reload time is reduced from 6 to 4 s;
  • "Engine boost" consumable is added: action time 180 s, maximum speed +15%, reload time 120 (90) s, 2 (3) charges.
  • An option to install "Engine boost modification I" is given;
  • "Repair party" values are changed:
  • HP/s restoration is lowered from 0.66%/s to 0.5%/s
  • Reload time is lowered from 120 (80) s to 60 (40) s.
Georgia was designed to fight at long ranges, but testing showed that good accuracy only compensates for a low 
amount of guns, but doesn't sufficiently qualify as a feature of the ship. Considering the ballistics and good speed characteristics, we made a decision to change the concept of this battleship to that of a more dynamic one. Georgia will feel most comfortable at medium distances. Good secondaries resembling those of Massachusetts, "Engine boost" with +15% to maximum speed and "Repair party" with low reload time will allow her to fight more aggressively. The adjusted accuracy will allow, on average, to hit the target with about half of the shells even at the maximum distance.

Tier VIII British Aircraft Carrier Indomitable Changes:
  • Aiming ellipse size of attack aircraft is increased:
  • Inner ellipse size is increased by 24%;
  • Outer ellipse size is increased by 42%;
  • Amount of rockets hitting the inner ellipse is lowered from 75% to 50%.
Testing showed that attack aircraft were too effective against destroyers. Increasing the size of the aiming ellipse and accuracy changes will lower the damage done to destroyers, with almost no changes to interaction with other classes.

World of Warships Devs: Graf Zeppelin (Nerf) and Soviet Battleships Changes

Graf Zeppelin (Nerf)

The total damage output of Graf Zeppelin is still very high. To keep the special features of GZ's attack planes and dive bombers and balance the total amount of damage this CV can inflict, the damage of torpedoes is now as follows: 
  • Lowered from 5500 to 4533.

Graf Zeppelin (Stats) - Kaga (Stats) - Saipan (Stats) - Enterprise (Stats) are now Finalised
There are no plans to make further changes to the parameters of Graf Zeppelin, Saipan, Kaga and Enterprise. We consider their balancing finished. We also would like to remind you that you can exchange your CVs in the Inventory section before the time to do this expires with 0.8.2.

Soviet Battleships:
  • Accuracy settings are changed for Lenin and all researchable tier III - X soviet battleships;
  • Damage Control Party duration is lowered to 10 seconds for for Lenin and all researchable soviet battleships.
The accuracy settings for the Soviet battleships were very "unnatural" and the change of the spread at long range increases sharply. Also such settings gave too large of an accuracy bonus at distances of mid to close range fights. Therefore, the values of the vertical and horizontal spread were adjusted so that accuracy depending on the distance changes more smoothly. This will slightly reduce the accuracy on the range up to 12 km.

The Soviet battleships were too effective in "tanking" cruisers' damage thanks to their good armor, high HP pool and the special settings of the Damage Control Party. Therefore, to balance the interaction of the Soviet BBs and cruisers, but keep other traits intact, the duration of the DCP is reduced. This will increase the total damage Soviet BBs receive from fires.

WoWs Devs continue balancing the aircraft carrier class as a whole and, in parallel, continue to balance the individual ships.
  • Increased speed of aim reduction in the attack phase of the Japanese Torpedo Bombers B6N Tenzan, B7A Ryusei, C6N Saiun, and J5N Tenrai Type 91 mod. 7 on Shokaku and Hakuryu.
  • Preparation time during the beginning of an attack is reduced from 5 to 4.5 seconds for Japanese Torpedo Bombers B4Y Jean and B5N2 Kate on Ryujo; and down to 4 seconds for Japanese Torpedo Bombers B6N Tenzan, B7A Ryusei, C6N Saiun, and J5N Tenrai Type 91 mod. 7 on Shokaku and Hakuryu.
Changes will make attacking more comfortable and reduce the distance necessary for attack.
  • The number of Torpedo Bombers on the decks of Shokaku and Hakuryu at the beginning of the battle is increased to two full groups, which will strengthen the impact potential of Torpedo Bombers.
  • To improve the combat effectiveness of Torpedo Bombers, the “Repair” consumable on Shokaku and Hakuryu has been improved: cooldown reduced from 180 to 120 seconds, the number of charges increased from 3 to 4.
  • The falling time of bombs from the planes of aircraft carrier Kaga has been increased by 10%, which will allow the target to dodge some of the bombs with the help of a well-timed counter-manoeuvre. The recovery time of one torpedo bomber on deck is increased from 75 to 90 seconds, which will require more careful control of Torpedo Bombers and make the aircraft carrier more sensitive to the loss of aircraft.
  • To reduce the high attack potential of Graf Zeppelin Torpedo Bombers, the damage from one torpedo is reduced from 6,000 to 5,500.
  • Increased the number of Hit Points of the stock planes of aircraft carriers with researchable modules. Now, the HP of Stock aircraft will not be lower than 95% compared to the number of Hit Points of the top researchable planes. This change will make the game on carriers with stock modules more comfortable. The change does not affect premium carriers and the carriers of tier IV.
  • For all classes of ships, except destroyers, visibility from the air now cannot be less than the range of the ship’s air defenses. This will prevent cases where a squadron comes within range of a ship with its air defense switched off with the ‘P’ key, after which the ship activates anti-aircraft weapons and causes serious and sudden damage to the aircraft. After this change, a squadron will detect the ship at the same time or before it is within range of air defense, regardless of if the ship has its air defenses activated or not. Changes will affect such ships as Worcester, Minotaur, Cleveland, Atlanta, Flint and others. The interaction of destroyers with aircraft will remain at the same level and the tactics of disabling air defense weapons with the ‘P’ key will also be relevant for this class.

Fixed the following bugs:

  • The range of the "Surveillance Radar" consumable on the battleship Missouri is now 9.5 km instead of 10 km. The correct value of 9.5 km was mentioned in the following article and erroneously increased in update 0.8.1;
  • Improved the accuracy of bombers and stock attack aircraft on carrier Furious; and attack aircraft on carrier Indomitable. The accuracy of these squadrons had remained unchanged after having the number of aircraft in their attacking flights changed. As a result, since there were fewer bombs being dropped, a higher accuracy was required.
  • Reduced the visibility of test ships from aircraft by 20% in accordance with change in visibility from the air in the update 0.8.0.3;
  • Fixed a bug that caused a short-term performance drop in battle;
  • Fixed a bug with incorrect contents in containers "Battle of the North Cape". Now the contents correspond to the cost of a container of 5 000 coal in comparison with other containers in the Arsenal:
  • number of Zulu, Juliet Charlie, Papa Papa signals reduced from 25 to 10;
  • number of Frosty Fir Tree camouflages reduced from 3 to 1.
  • Fixed bug with the width of Exeter’s torpedo aim. Now the second option launches torpedoes in a narrow spread, instead of wide.

Arsenal Update, improvements to The Port and Service Record Interface

arsenal & port changes:
Arsenal features new filters for searching ships: tiers, required resource, class, nation.
  • Arsenal will be renamed to ‘Armory’.
Noticeable changes for port’s interface:
  • Banners in the left part of the screen are updated;
  • Account leveling progress will display as a banner for players that have not reached 15 account level;
  • Service Record updated and now displays the details about leveling rewards;
  • Distinctive Insignia menu moved from Service Record to the upper left part of the port screen;
  • Server info and online players counter moved to the main game menu opened by ESC button.
Updated interface will make it easier to understand the service record and all the possibilities available.

black camo & new stream camo:
Starting with update 0.8.2 we’re planning to alternate the introduction of the new permanent camouflages for Molybdenum or Copper. In 0.8.2 update Black will get the new permanent camouflage “Marlin” for Molybdenum with the following bonuses:
  • -3% to detectability range.
  • +4% to maximum dispersion of shells fired by the enemy at your ship.
  • +150% Experience per battle
  • +150% Free experience per battle
  • +150% Commander’s experience per battle
  • -10% ship’s post-battle service
Added new camouflage Stream Dream for official stream giveaways:
  • -3% to detectability range.
  • +4% to maximum dispersion of shells fired by the enemy at your ship.
  • +100% Free experience per battle
  • +20% Credits per battle
