SMOLENSK Tier X Soviet Premium Light Cruiser Stats World of Warships

Updated: 244,000 For Sale in the 0.8.7 Armory

Main Characteristics of Smolensk.
  • 16 main battery guns with comfortable ballistics, a good rate of fire but a rather short standard range. At various combat distances, Smolensk can attack enemy ships with HE and AP shells alike, the latter being quite good for guns of that calibre;
  • The characteristics of the 130 mm guns can be significantly improved by using the following Commander skills: Basic Firing Training and Advanced Firing Training;
  • Torpedo armament that is quite good for a Soviet cruiser: one quintuple launcher on either side of the ship. The range of her torpedoes is 8 km;
  • A good speed of 35 knots and nice handling make it possible to promptly respond to ever-changing combat situations;
  • The Repair Party and Smoke Generator consumables on board as well as a concealment that is quite good for a ship of her type and tier compensate for the ship's poor armour protection and tiny pool of HP;
  • An option to choose between the Defensive AA Fire and Hydroacoustic Search consumables to counter carriers or destroyers, respectively;
  • More credits earned in each battle,
  • 100% More XP provided by the camouflage.

Wows Gamer Blog Smolensk Flag.
The ancient Russian city of Smolensk, which has a coat of arms depicting a bird of paradise sitting on a cannon, gave name to ships of both Imperial Russian and Soviet Navies.

Reinforcing the priority AA sector occurs in four phases:
 (1) Upon activating the priority AA sector, the AA defences will cause instantaneous damage to enemy squadrons, expressed as a percentage of their current HP, and try to shoot down as many aircraft as possible.
 (2) A phase in which the ship's continuous AA damage within the selected sector gradually increases, during which the efficiency of the opposite sector's AA fire reduces.
 (3) Having reached maximum efficiency, the reinforced AA sector deals damage to its full extent for a limited period of time.
 (4) AA sector reinforcement is deactivated. To use AA sector reinforcement once again, you have to wait until the end of the cooldown period, during which the efficiency of the ship’s AA defences returns to standard values.

    wows-gamer-blog It's Raining Fire!๐Ÿ”ฑ
    The Guns: 16 Never ending shells of molten lava every 4.5 secs, makes Smolensk a lethal ship to encounter, I found the guns fun but annoying to play, knowing sooner or later, I will meet her in battle.
    AA Defence: To me, she seemed to have a balanced AA defence, but then I haven't played her with the new updated AA mechanics on 0.8.7, so I will edit this part later this month.
    Armour: She is a glass ship, made up of baked-bean cans, just keep moving, make her hard to get a decent aim at, never be predictable, as I was in my first game, Blotted!
    Torpedoes: Wow!, You love to snipe, luring BB's into a false easy kill?, then you will love these torps, just remember to make sure the BB has already used DCP, or you could find yourself as I did with a Angry BB player with 30K HP wanting revenge.
    Speed: Not bad, I found that Smolensk will get you to where you want to be before getting spotted, use the speed flag.
    Range: MEH! I found the range piss poor๐Ÿ˜–, you need to use every available range modifier you can find,
    Overall: I had a lot of fun testing Smolensk, even though she is just another annoying Atlanta wannabe, but she did the job, you do need a high skilled commander, and the right build and player skills to make her work well for you.
    Would I buy Solensk: Of course, why would I lie?
    Rate It!: I gave her 9/10, reason being, she has the right tools to make a difference in a battle, providing you have the skills and so does you commander.

    ๐Ÿ˜ŽMe (iJoby): Just an average player on EU, 53% WR ๐Ÿ˜ฉ .
    I play to win of course, and have fun playing, when it's not fun (Usually weekends), I just chat to the guys on my social media outlets or blog.
    So my review on this and any ship, is only from my personal experience, skill level, and taste. and obviously, yours may differ.
    Thanks for reading. ๐Ÿ˜‰
